Funeral services for Harvey H. Gardner, 69, who died at the City hospital in Indianapolis Wednesday evening of last week, were held at the Universalist church in Fincastle Saturday afternoon. Burial was made in the Blakesburg cemetery near Fincastle. Mr. Gardner was a brother of Mrs. Carl Eggers of this place and Mrs. Glasgo Britton of near here; Mrs. Sopha Smith of Indianapolis; Mrs. Sue Everett of Spokane, Washington and Luther Gardner of Rockville. He was well known here. Mr. Gardner was born near here November 11, 1869, a son of Samuel and Sarah Brothers Gardner. His early youth was spent in the Fincastle vicinity and he attended the old Grider school there. He was married November 22, 1893, to Oliva Burkett, who died January 5, 1919. A son died in infancy. For many years he operated a meat market here and during his years in business he made many friends in this vicinity. He went to Indianapolis in 1920 and engaged in the coal business there until failing health forced him to retire. He was married in 1921 to Mrs. Laura Belle Jolley who survives    --- thanks so very much to Marilyn Walker for donating her Roachdale Times obituary collection
